Sword or Staff
Long before the drums of war, long before the horns and the screams of death and the thrill of a glory was a young monk named Ritorin. A quiet child who normally kept to himself. His family lived in a small hut down by the river bank. His father a fisherman and his mother would weave baskets and sell their catch and baskets to the neighboring villagers. Unfortunately, his parents were constantly working and had very little time for him, he was an only child and his only form of entertainment was to sit by the rivers edge and observe the creatures around. He seemed to enjoy mimicking the movements of the crane, he would flap his arms as if one day he would fly. Stealthy he walk around like the leopards and in a fit of rage he would roar like the tigers scaring all the small birds and squirrels around him. I saw a sense of strength and courage within him, but I was not sure he was ready to listen and learn. My first test was to leave a gift of choice. I left a beautiful sword with an ivory hilt, adorned with ruby's, emeralds and diamonds. One jewel would set his family for life and the other was a simple wooden staff. To my delight he picked the staff and began swinging it around and to my surprise he was able to balance on one leg while leaning on the staff. This child has a gift and I will nurture him.

Description (commended):

As the wind begins to pick up speed, so does the long brown braid hanging from the otherwise bald head of the man before you. At the base of his braid a small ivory clip has been carved in the shape a crane with its wings stretched wide. Tiny rubies have been set for its eyes and a small diamond has been placed at each wing tip. As this man slowly turns around you are hit with a sense of wonder and amazement. You have never seen such a man, deep scars on his back, shoulders and chest can be seen. A large tattoo of a crane with its' wings outstretched cover his entire torso. His green eyes sparkle in the light as he gives you a wry smile. His ears are uncharacteristically pointy like his elven father, mean while his thick full lips must come from his human mother. His long slender neck compliments his agile frame and on his knuckles the letters W A R I S G O D is tattooed.

I am not even angry anymore. I wanted so much more out of this game and really just went about it completely wrong. But I can't keep wasting my time trying to repair an image that cannot be repaired. I really tried with this character to do everything that was asked of me. And in the end my desire to be great ultimately was my downfall, I wanted monk forms, I wanted a warlord record, I wanted to just not be the asshole in game, but it was never going to happen. So with that sorry for all the rude comments I have made, sorry for breaking rp and good luck to you all and i hope this game only gets better.

let me put stuff here for other warlord apps. you can expect to be held to account, to the warlord code of conduct. i have had relationships with many players of AR across the cabals but thats never gotten in the way of the work, if you were a justice and attacked in town you would get kicked out. it may not necessarily be like that anymore but if i was the justice imm it absolutely would be. same with warlord will be while i imm. the warlord code is what matters, your bed you make is with that. rule 1 is obey your commander. if we are having a problem here then you just applied to the wrong cabal. if you wanna be a good guy non-asshole whatever then make a knight and not a dumb joke one but a real knight

Good desc, great effort, I hope you will take this as yet another learning experience on the path towards new and improved Ozaru who may finally have more depth and longevity to their characters combined with competent PK ability that's going to be your future HoE material by proving everyone who has an "image" of you wrong.

      1. I thought you were great and really enjoyed traveling with you. I will never forget our first meeting where we had a full on interview at North Square and you answered everything I was curious about perfectly without a single spoken word. To me there was certainly depth. Next step, longevity :)

I enjoyed my interactions with you. I thought you played the silent monk well, and it was surprisingly a joy to have conversations with you based on how you creatively interacted.

On a side note (but still related): this description. This is no shot against the player specifically, because other people do it too. And clearly people like it because it was given Immortal Favor. But I want to get a pulse on this. Because although this description is very well written, the way things are worded completely breaks my immersion. For example:

"As this man slowly turns around you are hit with a sense of wonder and amazement. You have never seen such a man..."

I don't like being told by another player what my player thinks and feels, let alone what they've experienced in their life. Maybe I'm one of the few people who read descriptions in-game (most of the time), and then base my interactions with people off of that. But being told what I'm thinking, feeling, and what I've experienced feels like a violation of player agency. On a minor note, I don't like how the description starts with the wind picking up.. does it pick up every time I look at you? AHA! I've now learned mastery over the wind.

Again, this is no stab against the player. It's clear they're a good writer. But, specifically in the context of AR, I feel these are certain things that don't belong in a description. That's just my two cents that no one asked for :P.

I agree with you on the description, personally I didn't think it was that good and was surprised to get recognized. Ive seen more and more descriptions have action sequences in them and not get shut down so I started doing it to.

Good to know I'm not the only one lol. I've had a consortium character sitting in my head for a while based solely on the fact that I seem to care so much about these things...

Ozaru, I always root for you because you never offer excuses for your actions, you just accept responsibility and take it on the chin. Always wish you had just not done bad things at any point to begin with, but a lot of us were there at one point in our AR careers or another. I also wish you'd just take the time to have a 50 without wanting them in a cabal, and enjoy the freedom it offers. Triyan was my first caballed char in a decade, and there's a lot I can appreciate about being in a cabal and not being in a cabal. Kind of wish you'd try that route for once. And also have a character who is over a year old, try that too. I appreciate immensely the one character I still have who is over a year old, even though he doesn't really stand out in a crowd.

I didn't know much about this character, but what I saw about the character I liked in general.

Ozaru, you have made some great characters, and I think you could do well if you chose to be persistent and adhere strictly to the requirements of whichever cabal you joined (assuming you don't go independent). Edebayo was one of your characters in particular that impressed me when I had been playing Trauc. He was a Keepermaster, had a custom title, and kicked my butt on more than one occasion. In any case, you're definitely a force to be reckoned with at times; don't let your emotions get in the way of playing a great character!

I want to go into a whole laundry list of reasons, explanations, grievances but I just don't have it in me anymore. I'd like to believe Shaghroth and Szrevan advocated for my induction and you Davairus said no. If you are going to say im not getting inducted because I ranked past 35 and thats all it is, I don't believe you.

Some of you have really gone out of your way to make this game enjoyable and some of you have gone out of your way to make this game not worth playing. (I put myself in both categories) So the only thing I can control at this point is whether I play or I don't. I am trying way too hard to get what I want and whether I get in my own way or I blame someone else or some shitty situation happens the result is just the same.

Davairus I don't like the way you treated Jinpo or Ritorin and I don't want to play here.
              1. I communicated very clear(and attainable) conditions to you for being inducted. The inner workings of Warlords right now is working as intended. The asinine note you were sent was unnecessary but the reason you stated is why you were denied induction. With you being silent, it was going to take a lot of effort to communicate and would require a lot of patience to get in at least from my perspective. When you broke taboo with Jinpo, I was willing to continue working with you and you specifically told me you weren't willing to put forth the effort I was looking for. With Ritorin, I wasn't as omnipresent as I have been for personal reasons, still there was still enough presence that you would have been inducted in time had you stayed with the process and been patient.
              2. Ozaru
                0 , 0 , 0 .
Just to clarify with Jinpo it had absolutely nothing to do with you and everything to do with Davairus summoning me in front of Szraven and going ooc saying don't fuck up what warlords has going right now. The killed my immersion because he checked who played the character and obviously from that point Szraven knew who I was too. I didn't want to tell you that in game so I just made up the excuse of not wanting to put the effort. Because like I said I wanted to just ease back into the game and that opportunity was taken away.

And as far as Ritorin as you can see numerous people were able to communicate with me and I with no problem. You didn't communicate anything to me regarding my induction, you sent a note to the warlord cabal saying you tried to communicate with me which honestly I don't remember. You logged in a few days ago, I was expecting you to say something when you logged in, you didn't after a minute or 2, I was about to send you a note to communicate to you and you quit out as soon as you could.

I probably sent at least 10 notes about my progress and updates to you guys and didn't receive a single word back. Shagroth said rank to 35 keep training and fighting. Szraven says find me 10 pieces of hard wood. I do all that and send a note. I wait another 7 days and I even told Davairus this it seemed that you all were avoiding me on purpose. Dav didn't want me in the cabal, I am going to assume you didn't want me in the cabal based on me killing you with shokan and then insulting you with regdar. So I don't blame you if you took it personal and decided to act it out in game to make it harder for me.

Nevertheless its over and done, Im done good luck to you.
              3. Quit being so paranoid and quit the martyr complex. The note I sent you and warlords laid out a very clear(and easily attainable) path to induction in response to your note questioning the opposition to your application. This is designed to prevent autoinduction. You were given clear instructions which you broke, its as simple as that. It had nothing to do with whatever drama you and Dav had. I certainly don't have anything against you either, For the record, I don't consider OOC crap in my IC discussions. I didn't even know you were Regdar, but I had nothing but respect for Shokan. I don't know or don't care what beef you and Dav have but you were refused induction because you were given an instruction and broke it and it was observed and decided by the current membership. Like I said, the asinine note was unnecessary. From all the responses to this GY post and the notes I read in game you were doing great with this character. You want a monk warlord with forms, feel free to make one. You had all the boxes ticked on this one except for the lack of patience. BE PATIENT. A combination of things has prevented me from being omnipresent for what, two weeks? Even with me not as active you were well on your way to being inducted until you broke your instructions. It makes me so mad because you're a great player. If you're well and truly done, well I wish you well in life.
              4. Was on a trip irl, could not get to you as much as I wanted. Shame on me for that. At your 14th day of application, I was gonna log on from my phone just to approve your application and give you props for fulfilling the tests that were really a cover for the one ultimate test; patience and self-discipline.

I checked player list beforehand and saw you already levelling, so I figured you either got inducted or got bored and gave up. Either way it was no reason for me to log on, as there are other ranked members to deal with it.

I was trying to be as supportive as I could towards you, because I perhaps naively had high hopes for you, thinking that this is where you are going to break the old habit and become truly great, especially if you got friends in-game to support and care for you.

Just sad that you decided to take matters in your own hands right at the worst moment possible. I was really hoping to see you do good and become the best possible Warlord.

Hopefully you are not done with the game, because you bring a lot of good to it.

Last thing I am going to say about this, you keep saying the word patience. You even said BE PATIENT right?? Here are some fun facts. Tearea was created on 5/31/2021 your first posted warlord duel when you were level 50 was at the ripe old age of 6/11/2021. Plug those numbers into excel and carry the 2 oh 11 fucking days from level 1 to level 50 inducted into warlords.

Szrevan created 6/23/2021 first log at lvl 50 posted 8/2/2021 hmm thats 10 days.

Shaghroth created 8/8/2021 First log posted as a warlord lvl 40 8/14/2021 6 days inducted from creation.

Man you guys really had to be patient to get into the cabal, mean while Im the one who has to be patient.

The difference being neither of those players had anything to prove to the imms, where as you and your flash-in-a-pan flavor of the day/half-week cabal chars did. At least, to get into Warlords that is.

you go ooc in front of every warlord in dramatic fashion before deleting. but you act like its the end of the world when your cabal imm does it to you. you were going to break that mute rp to go ooc just like you did with mitoko
i didnt even bother reading your application until i saw the warlords expressing irritation you had disobeyed orders and levelled up. yeah. thats how much i care. you talk about not being angry anymore and not wanting to play anymore. god wouldnt it be nice if not everything out of your mouth is total bullshit. look at all these rage deleted warlords on your acc. go to your dashboard. realize that you blew it every single tim. you are just the last person who should ever be in warlorde everagain.

Ritorin the character was really cool. I loved the RP (didn't have any trouble interacting with you). I was always a bit wary of this character because it's hard to gauge the intentions of a silent guy without interacting with them a ton. You were on a ton and I really like that. I was looking forward to seeing what this character was up to.

Ozaru the player is great. I had no idea you were Shokan, Regdar and Ritorin - and I enjoyed all of them. I've fought with/against and interacted with a lot of your characters on a lot of mine. It's always an experience I'm looking forward to. It's great having you in the PK scene. You add some spice to it because you're competent and unpredictable. With this character it looked like you were going to join the RP scene too. Getting into deep RP (via lore, backgrounds, story arcs, etc) can be just as fun as PK - mixing both into one char gives you the full AR experience. I think you were really on track for that.

I strongly second Phostan's recommendation of going non-caballed though. It's extremely liberating to play a character that has zero responsibilities to any god or organization. With no restrictions, the sky is the limit (sort of). You can play a great, meaningful character without being in a cabal.

The one thing I see here, is you keep making characters, they last a month or two tops if we are lucky and then something happens, someone 'ruins' your immersion and you get mad and quit. When this happens, you quit for good and wish us all luck with our game, and are never coming back etc. etc. etc., but you are always back within a week making a new character for another cabal. Your last few characters I have enjoyed interacting with when I did, and Ritorin I had the pleasure of interacting with several mortals. I have to say, that normally I can pick you out of a crowd, and this time I had no idea it was you. That is a pleasant surprise, even if it is a sad ending. I really liked the no talking and sending notes to communicate with. It added a bunch of depth and was just overall cool. One thing I want to note is if you are making characters quickly like this and getting frustrated and delete in short order people are going to be hesitant to induct you right away. Follow the advice and make an uncaballed or go Knight or Legion like suggested. You like to fight, and I need fighters, just don't need the drama. You make something serious for Legion, show strong roleplay and a desire to listen I am not going to care who you are. Every character is a new character, and a new chance, and with that said I will give you merit on the character alone. Stay in-character and you have nothing to worry about with me. I don't care if you win fights, if you lose fights, those aren't a requirement for membership. I care about the fun, and the chaos that can be brought.

With that said, good luck with your next.

I agree with the statement made that every character is a fresh start. I love your characters with the exception of the flash in the pan nature of them. Here, have a shovel.
