<NOBLE> Frewan gossips: 'Hail.'

You tell Ulsa 'I'm well, but I need a moment of your time.'

Ulsa tells you 'Quite alright!'

You drink water from a barrel.

An Intersection of Two Nameless Roads

A wishing well sits at the center of the intersection.
Ulsa flies in.

Ulsa puts The Serin Mystique, Volume 12, Issue 2 in a Loot Sack.

Ulsa drinks water from a wishing well.

You say 'I've heard several things.'

Ulsa nods.

Ulsa sits down and rests.

Ulsa crosses her legs.

The ash falls from the tip of a bucket of angry Fireswarm locusts.

You say 'I would hear your side.'

Ulsa nods.

Ulsa nods.

You say 'Breathe. Just recount the things as they happened.'

Ulsa says 'Well it all started with that Knight, Destrian..'

You stop wielding a staff of healing.

You sit down.

Ulsa says 'I decided to give him some of my armor to better prepare himself for Krite.'

Ulsa says 'He spoke of it being a ploy to get him killed!'

Cyprian nods and continues to listen.

Ulsa says 'I tried to give him some advice, he would not listen, he told me to leave him be..'

Ulsa says 'When I would come across him, he would slap me and run on..'

Ulsa says 'He even spoke of me going to a hell!'

Ulsa says 'I tried telling Noath he has a madman as a Footman..'

Ulsa says 'Noath just told me to give him space..'

Ulsa says 'Well, he came into the tavern causing problems..'

Ulsa says 'Threatening Brumblwitz and so forth..'

You nod.

Ulsa says 'Well, Brumblwitz ask him to leave the tavern.'

Ulsa says 'The Knight refused, and Brumblwitz called a bouncer.'

Ulsa says 'The Knight summoned Brumblwitz out of the tavern and attacked him..'

Ulsa says 'He ended the life of Brumblwitz and that is where I stepped in.'

Ulsa shrugs helplessly.

<NOBLE> Frewan gossips: 'How goes it.'

<HERALD> Cyprian gossips: 'Oh, it goes...oh how it goes.'

You say 'Please continue.'

You say 'Was there more?'

<NOBLE> Frewan gossips: 'I'm anxious for my day in court.'

Ulsa agrees absolutely.

<PATRON> Dunn gossips: 'Hello.'

Ulsa says 'I decided to intrude upon the Knight's layer to bring forth the Knight.'

<HERALD> Cyprian gossips: 'It may be a while yet. But we're a step further than we were before.'

<NOBLE> Frewan gossips: 'I hope a peace can be found, quite odd to target Nobles yes it is.'

Ulsa says 'I ended the life of the Knight.'

You nod.

Ulsa says 'Iryn, a Mystic of sorts say it as revenge.'

<NOBLE> Frewan gossips: 'Destrian has taken his own life. I suppose he could not handle the dishonor.'

<HERALD> Cyprian gossips: 'Who knows if I could have. I wouldn't assert an evaluation I've never filled the shoes of.'

You nod.

You say 'Is that all there is?'

Ulsa says 'I've found myself in an anathema status with Valour, thus having Destrian and Lufen hunt me.'

Ulsa says 'I had to end the life of both of them.'

You say 'What drove that thought?'

You say 'Wait.'

Ulsa says 'I was hunted by them both..'

Ulsa frowns.

You say 'No, let me put it another way.'

<NOBLE> Frewan gossips: 'I take my leave but will look for the note telling of my court date.'

You stand up.

<HERALD> Cyprian gossips: 'Try to settle your nerves until then, Duke Frewan.'

<NOBLE> Frewan gossips: 'I shall. I shall.'

You say 'What the Knights and nobles will have no ability to pardon..'

You say 'Is bringing it to the Knight's Keep.'

You say 'But what I want to know.'

Ulsa raises an eyebrow.

Cyprian pauses.

You say 'Was there something else?'

Ulsa says 'I tried explaining it all to Noath..he seemed to not want to listen.'

Benicia stops following you.

You tell Benicia 'It's alright if you must take it with you as you depart.'

You say 'I know. You remember.'

Benicia tells you 'I just buying a person.'

You tell Benicia '*chuckle* Buy freely, then.'

<PATRON> Dunn gossips: 'Wish I knew what was even going on!'

Benicia tells you 'Costme!'

Ulsa says 'What is it you ask.'

Ulsa raises an eyebrow.

Benicia tells you 'Costme losta gold!'

You say 'I'd tell you how you'd be up against a number of things...one of them you've already met head on several times.'

You say 'Tradition, combined with a disbelief over the odds that a dark would turn.'

You say 'I have no trouble believing it, honestly. Not where you're concerned.'

You say 'But for most others, they choose not to crystallize what they can't see and believe in that.'

You say 'So they demand proof by deeds.'

You say 'This early, it's too much to ask. But that's my opinion.'

Ulsa says 'I tried helping these Knights of Valour, it is them who turned their back on me even under an oath.'

You agree absolutely.

You say 'Some in the Heavens have borne witness to that.'

You say 'And I believe it.'

You say 'I myself can testify to the abrasive attitude Destrian had toward you in my own dealings with him.'

Ulsa agrees absolutely.

You say 'My question is..'

Cyprian shuts his eyes briefly.

Cyprian opens his eyes.

You say 'As you stormed the Knight's keep..'

You say 'For whom did you do it?'

Ulsa says 'Brumblwitz.'

You nod.

[Exits: west down]
A statue stands here, holding a bowl that catches light from the ceiling.
Ulsa flies in.

You say 'Hardly any time passed at all between that question and your answer.'

You say 'And the sequence of events lines up to support its truth.'

Benicia gossips: 'I heared it's nice here!'

Ulsa says 'I will defend those of the tavern at all cost.'

You say 'You had only stormed the keep following Brumblwitz' fall.'

Benicia gossips: 'How come you got no little seats?'

Ulsa shakes her head.

<HERALD> Cyprian gossips: 'Where do you mean?'

You say 'Pardon her. She's a young one.'

Benicia gossips: 'Inna inn.'

Ulsa says 'I took stride into their halls once more against the both of them.'

Ulsa nods.

Benicia gossips: 'Just abiddy stage for mices.'

You say 'But it was at their keep that they both fell.'

You say 'Right?'

Ulsa says 'Outside of it.'

You nod.

You say 'You know that quill and journal you gave me.'

Ulsa nods.

You say 'They've been very handy, and have already seen a staple of uses.'

<PATRON> Grewin gossips: 'Hello!'

You say 'So you've said Brumblwitz' was whom you were fighting for.'

You say 'And the tavern, by default, of course.'

Ulsa agrees absolutely.

You say 'You are a patron, after all.'

You say 'As well.'

You say 'Not just his friend.'

You say 'Here's what I'm going to offer you to do. You must've put some out-of-the-way thought in picking this stationary up for me.'

You give a quill with a white feather to Ulsa.

You give a thin journal to Ulsa.

You say 'If your heart had nothing malicious behind your avenging of wrong upon the tavern, and upon Brumblwitz.'

You say 'Ink it with that quill.'

You say 'And into that journal.'

Ulsa says 'What exactly would you have me write?'

You say 'Use any words you're moved to use.'

You say 'However long. However few.'

Ulsa opens a thin journal.

Ulsa looks at a thin journal.

You say 'It's alright. Just write what comes to your heart.'

Ulsa says 'One can actually write inside this journal?'

You say 'I can. You may only be able to move the quill, and do not much else.'

You say 'I want you to see what your hand reflects from your heart.'

You say 'This is more for you, than for me.'

Ulsa says 'Shall I just speak forth the words to you, Cyprian?'

Ulsa nods.

You say 'You can do that too, if you wish.'

<HERALD> Cyprian gossips: 'Pardon, I'm not ignoring anybody. My attention is drawn elsewhere.'

Benicia gossips: 'Uh huh.'

Ulsa says 'My actions as of late are due to part of belonging to a clan, a home I would call it.'

Ulsa says 'These patrons, Heralds..are like friends or even family one could say.'

You nod.

Ulsa says 'I told Lord Ceridwel myself I wished no more bloodshed between these Knights..'

Ulsa says 'You must understand, I did not see it as revenge..more as protecting Brumblwitz.'

You say 'I know it was. That was the dot I put together with the note Brumblwitz had inked.'

You say 'This is for you, more than for me, Ulsa.'

You say 'I was on your side, and still am.'

Ulsa says 'It is not the Knights I wish to have to battle, I had been striving to life a peaceful life.'

Ulsa says 'Striving to live a peaceful life, if I must say.'

You nod.

You say 'I've observed it.'

You say 'Freely giving coin to the most negligible of paupers by rank-and-file standards I don't care too much for.'

Ulsa says 'The top ranking member of their clan spoke of me being an oathed citizen because I was forced..'

You say 'Over time your neutral scowls turned into smiles.'

Ulsa says 'I was never forced to oath..It is only because of you I choose to take an oath to Valour.'

You say 'Their words and anything similar to that I passed off as a willful ignorance.'

You say 'And Vanisse was aware of why you chose to oath, and I said not a word to her about it.'

Ulsa says 'I had desired to change my ways..but it was the Light that turned on me..'

You say 'Vanisse spoke that to me, as well.'

Ulsa says 'I did make change..but those members of the Light could not forgive.'

You say 'So what emotion underlies what you say right now?'

Ulsa says 'A hurtful heart..'

Cyprian nods sagely.

You say 'I understand where you would be.'

Ulsa says 'Sadness..'

You say 'I know, Ulsa.'

Ulsa wipes a tear.

You say 'You open your heart in spite of enough reasons to reflect on in the past to keep it shut.'

Ulsa says 'It hurts..and it still continues to hurt.'

Ulsa screams outloud.

Ulsa says 'Why me!?'

Ulsa says 'Why?'

Cyprian steps forward, and places a gentle hand on your shoulder.

You say 'Because you're strong enough.'

You say 'Where many others would've given in by now.'

You smile at her.

Ulsa says 'I try, Cyprian, you must believe me!'

You chuckle politely.

You say 'I've told you. Of course I believe you.'

You say 'What this is about...'

Cyprian looks down at the journal and quill in your possession.

You say 'All I want you to do, is watch your hand reflect what's in your heart into that journal you went out of your way to provide me. Do you understand the importance of you doing this?'

You say 'For yourself?'

Ulsa says 'A look back of life and it's journies..'

Cyprian nods, listening.

You say 'What do you see in them?'

Ulsa says 'But I have never scribbed a note..my emotions come straight from the heart to the mouth.'

You smile happily.

You say 'Well done.'

Cyprian holds his hand out.

You say 'You can give them back now.'

Ulsa gives you a thin journal.

Ulsa gives you a quill with a white feather.

You say 'These mean a great deal to me.'

You put a quill with a white feather in a leather backpack.

Ulsa smiles happily.

You put a thin journal in a leather backpack.

Ulsa says 'I do hope so.'
You close a leather backpack.

You say 'You can know so.'

Cyprian removes his hand from your shoulder and steps back.

Ulsa nods.

Ulsa smiles happily.

Altar of Vanisse
| Underneath the raised circular platform and entryway is the
| sacred altar of Vanisse. Upon the floor is carved a large
| circle, with rays extending outward to touch the walls. Where
| each of these carved rays touch the walls, a mirror is angled
@ | to bring in beams of light from the Sun to illuminate under
| the platform. All of the beams of light, reflected, converge
| in the center upon a raised altar. Stairs lead back upwards
| to the main temple, while a blank stone doorway can be seen
| in the wall to the south.

[Exits: up]
The shimmer of a small star-shaped silver leaf catches your interest.
A sparking lightning sword is on a simple altar.
A simple altar with a small crystal has been raised from the floor.
(White Aura) A golden lioness stands vigil next to the altar, protecting it from intruders.
Ulsa flies in.

Ulsa wipes away another tear.

You pat Ulsa on her head.

You say 'Cry if you must. Whether here or in private somewhere.'

You say 'But after a while, the tears go bad and sour in the heart.'

Ulsa says 'I have cried enough my friend..I cannot continue in this matter.'

You peer intently at Ulsa.

You say 'What do you mean?'

Ulsa says 'I must once again become that strong willed bird I was before these Knights tried to convert my soul.'

You say 'You are still that strong-willed bird, Ulsa.'

You say 'The difference is you can feel.'

Ulsa says 'That is what is behind these tears?'

You say 'Yes.'

You say 'And I've cried many of my own in years long past.'

Ulsa nods slowly.

You say 'Reflecting the same feelings of inadequacy and hopelessness.'

You say 'I lost someone over it.'

Ulsa raises an eyebrow.

You say 'Because I gave up.'

You say 'To the bottle.'

Ulsa frowns.

You say 'Numbing those feelings.'

Ulsa says 'That ale..?'

Ulsa says 'Try this my friend.'

You say 'It was worse frequency than what you'd see me drink before.'

Ulsa says 'A gift straight from Vanisse herself.'

It's more than half-filled with a burgundy liquid.
Ulsa nods at you in agreement.

You say 'I'm alright, now. And I'd rather be sober while I'm here with you.'

You say 'I'm just trying to show you I'm not preaching from a shallow pulpit.'

You give a large jug to Ulsa.

You say 'I know your road has been giving you negative returns up to now.'

You say 'I get it.'

You say 'You leave pawns for friends that spit in your face.'

You say 'Quite a losing deal.'

You say 'But is it all about winning?'

You say 'Should it be?'

You say 'I will vouch for you.'

Ulsa smiles happily.

You say 'I'm in your corner until you turn back, or I die.'

You say 'But your decisions are still yours.'

Ulsa smiles happily.

Ulsa says 'I wish no ill intentions towards any of the Light, but those Knights I cannot have a relationship with..'

You nod.

You say 'You don't have to.'

You say 'But Vanisse wanted to know two things.'

Ulsa says 'Faith will only be restored in Noath if I'm pardoned by this curse I carry.'

You nod.

You say 'That, I don't have unfluence over.'

You say 'But neither is it quite yet in stone.'

Ulsa says 'What so bothers me is that I tried to tell Noath..I tried to warn him!'

You say 'Warn him about what?'

Ulsa says 'That Destrian..the one who the tortured soul.'

Ulsa says 'My last awakening showed me the true outcome of his actions..'

Ulsa says 'He no longer stood a Knight of Valour..'

You say 'He may have been a tortured soul, and you saw it because you were once one, right?'

Ulsa agrees absolutely.

You say 'His permanent fall does little to argue in his favor against this.'

Ulsa says 'Permanent fall?'

You nod.

You say 'He will walk Serin no longer.'

Ulsa gasps in astonishment.

Ulsa says 'How come?'

You sigh.

You say 'Just know it wasn't something you caused.'

Ulsa says 'I even ache still for him even after all he has brought upon me..'

You say 'I have it in ink that you had nothing to do with it.'

You say 'You can rest knowing that.'

Ulsa says 'He said he would kill me if was the last thing he did!'

Ulsa says 'He even mentioned putting my head on a pike!'

You say 'He gave in to the hand dealt to him as a result of his actions.'

You say 'That's the summary.'
Ulsa nods.

Ulsa nods.

You say 'You may find out more as Time goes on.'

You say 'But Vanisse needs to know two things before I go over much else.'

Ulsa nods.

You say 'One of them we've already confirmed.'

You say 'You were motivated by grief and loyalty.'

Ulsa nods.

You say 'Not by anything to do with malice on your behalf.'

Ulsa nods.

You say 'The second thing is something she wants to know.'

Ulsa nods.

You say 'Is whether or not you can swear never to lay a hand on a Knight ever again.'

Smoke from a bucket of angry Fireswarm locusts fills the surroundings.

Ulsa drinks water from a silver chalice ornamented with pearls.

You say 'Hear me out.'

You mull over the idea at hand, asking for patience.

You say 'You must understand the Brumblwitz fall was clearly wrong.'

Ulsa says 'That I can swear to..if I'm not to be harmed in any way by them..I cannot live life watching over my shoulders.. that is not the life I had strived for..'

You say 'And-'

Cyprian cuts his thought short, and nods.

You smile happily.

You say 'That's just it.'

You frown disapprovingly.

Ulsa says 'I even told dear Brumblwitz I wished no more harm towards them.'

You say 'I believe it.'

You say 'But this issue about your anathema..'

You say 'It may not be pardoned. My speaking with you has to do with interceding on your behalf, that you may stay in this fold.'

You say 'If I had the power, I would have you pardoned.'

You are thirsty.

Ulsa says 'What will I do, Cyprian?'

You say 'Without what? Because of what?'

Ulsa says 'With my life! Those Knights will continue to hunt me if I have no pardon of this curse!'

The tip of a bucket of angry Fireswarm locusts glows brightly.

You say 'That's something I want to know more about.'

You say 'How does that play out according to their books.'

Ulsa mutters something quietly to herself.

Ulsa says 'Noath..'
You say 'Isn't one execution enough?'

You say 'Noath?'

You say 'Oh.'

You say 'You mean he's present.'

Cyprian squints his eyes in concentration.

You say 'Come.'

Ulsa says 'I cannot, Cyprian.'

You say 'The last thing you need to be found doing is being misconstrued for hiding to risk bloodshed in a Temple.'

Ulsa says 'I told Noath to speak with you, my time is not available currently.'

You nod.

You say 'If you must rest, please see to it.'

You say 'As long as you feel you must.'

You say 'You may scroll me whenever. Consult me wherever.'

Ulsa says 'Will you speak to him on all this until I may return here shortly?'

You say 'I want to help see you through this.'

You nod.

You say 'I will.'

Ulsa says 'Noath spoke of me being slain by him..'

You say 'I know. They're words that cut.'

A warm wind roars in from the west.

You say 'But understand it's more the hallowed code of knights speaking than Noath himself.'

You say 'That's what I think.'

You say <BLEEPED>

Ulsa says 'I feel I have done no wrong, but I must explain that to him when the time is available.'

You smirk.

Ulsa nods.

You say 'I'll do what I can in your absence.'

You say 'I'll go ahead of your departure.'
