Roamas, the warrior.
Roamas was born on a small island with a proud and ancient tribal lineage. He was raised in a fiercely spiritual community where he learned combat skills as well as kindness and respect. The community relied on these virtues to flourish, and it did. When Roamas reached maturity, the tribe's shaman chose him for a perilous journey to seek the island's blessing and become a man and warrior of the tribe. Roamas persevered through the trials of strength and endurance until he was suddenly caught in a raging storm. He found himself on a beach facing the ocean, unable to move as the water began to roil and pull away from the shore. The water built into a colossal wave rushing towards him. Roamas knew there was no chance to run as the wave looked big enough to engulf the whole island. However, he braced himself for the impact with steadfast determination, fully aware of the possible destruction it would bring to his beloved island and tribe. Amid the chaos, he heard a whispered voice in his head saying, "Be still, this is only the beginning of your journey." At that moment, Roamas knew that his destiny was far greater than the island and tribe he had grown up with. He slowly sat up, trying to make sense of his surroundings. As his vision cleared, he realized that he was no longer on his home island. He was on the shores just outside of a small town, a town he would learn to call Storm Hill.

Description (commended):

The battle-hardened storm giant warrior is a captivating figure, grizzled and wise from years of formidable combat. With storm-tinged, electric-blue skin and shoulder-length golden hair that shines like lightning, he exudes an aura of raw power. A long beard twisted into a thick braid hangs from his broad face. Strong-jawed with an angular nose that sports a slight bend from a previous injury, he might be considered rather handsome. From behind stray locks of hair, you can see piercing grey eyes, the color of raging storm clouds, that seem to hold both wisdom and fury. His massive frame thick with rippling muscles honed through countless battles. An intricate design of flowing waves has been etched into his skin in dark green ink, starting at the tops of his strong hands and up his arms, across his broad shoulders and back.

I am sure I would not have done any better. But that is a really good description.

      Ant thoughts/feedback?

If we follow the rules strictly, grizzled and wise. Wise is bad. You are telling me he looks wise. That's a feeling not a description. You cannot see wise from a camera.

That seem to hold both fury and wisdom. Likewise same as above.

        But i like that description.

Please stop. You are not the description police. You have said your piece just like the rest of us. Leave it up to the immortals discretion to judge (which they did by the way. It's commended).

This description may have been commended before the big thread for all we know; the character is 2 months old, the thread is barely a month ago. Merlandox response shows the ease and effectiveness of that camera test which I provided in response to players complaining about the pet peeve. I think you are getting triggered here and in doing so obstructing a legitimate piece of constructive criticism which is right on the ball. That literally is the kind of thing that caused that thread actually. https://abandonedrealms.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14518

Eh what? Grayden asked for thoughts/feedback and I was just responding. I actually liked the description regardless of the camera test and if left to me, i would commend it for sure. was just pointing out if holding strictly to the camera test, it fails.

Ok feel free to delete this post emissaries because this probably doesn't belong on some poor guys graveyard but I just have to get this off my chest and be done with it.

Yes, I absolutely am triggered. You are correct. Because I completely disagree. It isn't valid feedback imo. This narrowest possible interpretation of the "camera rule" bothers me greatly. A picture is worth a thousand words and you can use a thousand words to describe a picture. Grizzled and wise combat veteran passes the camera test because if you take a picture of that guy then I can see look at that picture and can come up with those words to describe the man in the photo. It is valid, evocative, flowery visual description. It has nothing to do with the guy being wise in a philosophical sense or an ability score. Same goes for having wise eyes. Heck, the phrase "captivating figure" puts more on the viewer than that (and that is also fine).

This whole thing to me is an assault on language and personal freedom of creative expression and as a person who plays these games in large part as a creative writing exercise for enjoyment I hate that. I know that makes me the weird one here and I know I don't get to decide what the interpretation is. But I meant it when I started that post with 'please stop'. I should have just stopped the post there. Please stop. I hate this conversation. It ruins things for me. I sat down to write my own character description before I foolishly openly the web page first, saw this, tilt posted and then couldn't even write because I just could not find any f'ing joy at all in it anymore.

I did not get the impression that you were part of that problem, neither causing it or complaining about it... I am providing easy solutions to follow for some of your fellow players that HAVE been under fire, because they are writing descs that tell you the way they are walking commands fear and respect. It may not be a perfect method but it works well broadly.

Yeah, I mean, you're right. I don't find it hard to pass the camera test. I want a very broad interpretation of it that I probably won't personally use. I don't know why this topic bothers me so much. It just does. We all have our things I guess.

Storm is so underwhelming compared to stone and fire. Maybe if they got extra wis.
        1. Quite strong actually, no additional weakness aside from mental.

I have to start working on foundry so I shouldnt talk but I'm going to say it anyway. We as a community don't have any good excuses for a level 50 warrior with this much experience being 0-15 on a relatively easy character to play. He's an awesome guy that kinda sucks at pk'ing, though knowledgeable. I really think that player could be a case study in what we need to teach people to move their game up a level.

If I were to breakdown, he had 9 PK deaths. If Ashlyn is roamas, then he's just really bad with warriors. His monk is fine. He died to all the current top PKers doesn't mean his record is bad. It's just as a Knight, he has to fight them and he's just not at the level as a warrior.
        4. I can tell you right now, that his two deaths to a shaman, were 2v2 group fights, where I was the target(With the ability to heal) and he was the target (without the ability to heal). It was just a bad matchup for him, I don't know about the rest of the deaths.
        5. When I was playing this character, I had to do so on phone data. I was living a bit remote and couldn't get any internet service provided to where I was. I've also never been great with giant warriors, I came back after a hiatus and rolled a terrible warlord and then this guy. I ate a few deaths due to disconnecting/lag spikes at terrible times. It's not really an excuse for the record, but that and all the new changes made for a difficult run.

I have to say, great job with all the changes and new area!

OK if its disconnecting nevermind. I just figured it looks kind of miserable to be taking constant losses. If you are having fun that is what matters to me.

Key PK fundamentals: knowledge of the realms (map and items), tracking/movement.
A person playing on the web client is definitely not going to have an edge over a similar player playing on a proper mud client with fully customized aliases, macros, triggers.

Triggers? You definitely don't need those to be a top PKer. I know Xenyar doesn't use them, and I'm pretty sure pip doesn't either. I don't use triggers either, but I'm not elite so that doesn't mean as much...

          0 , 0 , 0 .
sorry, I don't mean you need triggers to PK, I just mean to say that a proper mud client got more functions that can be better customized than the webclient.

Really? I don't believe an elite doesn't even use a single trigger. Not even disarm trigger, triggers to highlight important key words etc etc? Hard for me to believe 0 trigger play.

I don't know how to make a trigger lol. Never tried or cared. I only use macros.

What sorcery is this, I don't know of any complicated triggers... Programming is alien to me, I rely on ChatGPT for everything... 200ms banzai!

Maybe I conflated the pking with the hoarding of all of the items in the game.

Ok wow i mean i am amazed. It's so easy to miss a disarm and there goes your weapon. I'm not sure how u guys do without triggers but yeah awesome.
        1. lionSpyre
          0 , 0 , 0 .
Disarm is easy enough to catch because if your prompt is set to show weapon and combat style advantage, everything goes red. So even if you miss the text, you still have two rounds of combat to catch why everything has gone to shit.

The only trigger I use is a text trigger that makes the text bright blue, bold, and underlined when aura disappears. Couple that with a sense of when the next tick is coming up, then all you need are aliases.

I legit don't understand how people play without a timer counting off the seconds since the last tick. The idea of doing it by feel is insane to me. I feel crippled when I'm on the web browser instead of my client.
